About Jordan Stroman

In my twenty-four years of life, I have learned a whole lot about challenge and pain and deeply profound love. Born with an undiagnosed degenerative muscle disease, I have experienced the loss of most of the major functions of my body. This daily reality has given me a perspective that I am eternally grateful for and a deeply rooted desire to shatter preconceived notions. I am passionate about helping others to see the beautiful opportunity that is before them and to embrace their dreams with courage and vulnerability. This life is a gift of adventure and I'm grateful to be on the journey. (Follow Jordan on Twitter and Insta @jordeybug).

The Destruction of People Pleasing

Somewhere along the way, I became afraid to say things out loud.

In the messiness of life, I picked up insecurities. Insecurities that made me ashamed to show that I care a lot, because I do. Insecurities that created a rooted need to please those around me, at any cost […]

Two weeks from tomorrow, on Wednesday the 28th, we are having our first event of the semester on campus.  For the past month, we’ve been having conversations, on the blog and on campus, about food and how it is a major component to our daily lives. Through our food choices, […]

Changing A Culture

I live in a little town connected to Orlando called Oviedo and I love it. It’s definitely not the trendiest part of the city – not even close. But I think that’s why I love it so much. It has potential.

To outsiders, Oviedo is boring and suburban and overrun with soccer moms […]

How to Get Along with an Extrovert

This past week, my friend sent me a blog post by Donald Miller titled “How to Get Along with an Introvert.” Being a knee-deep extrovert, I often struggle with understanding my introverted friends. The article further opened my eyes to the way introverts navigate life and relationships. I think […]

Don’t Believe the Lies

I don’t think there is anything I appreciate more than that of depth: in conversation, in relationship, in story. When we are real and raw and honest about the joys and the pains of life, when we dismiss the impulse to pretend like we have it all figured out […]

Everyday Leader: 12/12/14

I began college at the University of Central Florida in the fall of 2009. That first year was a rough one for me. I was afraid to step out and meet people, and in that, I felt very secluded. When summer came, I was seriously contemplating not returning and, […]
